Greetings from many abysses.
If identity is what you're here for, let's get this out of the way — a cryptocurrency community tradition that has existed as long as blockchain has been a buzzword: the Game of Thrones introduction.
Hi! I'm Ryan Taylor, the original webmaster for Bitcoin Magazine, Ethereum and Zcash, as well as the co-founder of the Decentralized Library of Alexandria.
As an independent livestreamer known as Adjy Leak, I've produced hundreds of videos at events such as San Francisco Bitcoin Meetup, DWeb, Battlemesh, Berlin Blockchain Meetup, OpenWrt Summit, Redecentralize, ArcticJS, Squatconf, DAppHack, Hackers Congress Paralelní Polis, Cubaconf, Radical Networks, Zcon, and much more ...
Most recently, I created the Zero-knowledge Audiovisual Club.
When I started streaming live tech events in 2014, community was the heart of my work. The open-source technologies and projects that my communities were just beginning to develop at that time were small and had very little funding, if any.
Contacting and working closely with event organizers took up the majority of my time, a large portion of which was spent convincing them that livestreaming their meetup or conference was something they should consider. The most common response I received was usually along the lines of, "Thanks, but we don't have any money for this."
Can you imagine someone refusing to document the history of their communities because nobody will pay them to do it? The thought of it makes me sick.
Sadly, media companies have adopted and overcharged for the most basic version of event livestreaming, resulting in our current reality. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
This is why the Zero-knowledge Audiovisual Club exists.
And this is where Adjy Leak ends.
